March Club Notes

Loads of prize winners in March – looks like the groundwork for a good summer racing season! A busy month with Ballycotton 10, road championships and our own Mallow 10.

Adare 10km: 3rd place ladies team

Denise Cronin, Lisa Finn, Helena O Connor and Jackie Bowen

1st Male over 65  –  Tommy Sheehan.

Great results in tough conditions.

Huge congrats to Paul Moloney on winning Sports person of the year at the Mallow and District sports award – well deserved recognition for a super year in 2016. (Rob Heffernan commented he was delighted to meet his hero Paul!). Congrats also to other club members nominated.

National All Ireland indoor championships in Athlone:

Paul Moloney won gold in the 3000m and shortly after silver in the 1500m (all after a late night at the Sports awards and a long drive the following morning!) – super running!

Madmen: Ger Buckley & Peadar Curtis completed a back to back in Limerick with a marathon on Saturday and another on Sunday! Also Mick Clancy did THE RACE in Donegal a 250km run, cycle and kayak with a time limit of 24 hours! Both lived to tell the tale….

Mallow 10

What a day – beautiful day loads of runners from the club and a massive show of club and community spirit with around 200 volunteers on the day. They day is not possible without this effort – a big thank you to everyone involved.

There were over 70 finishers from the club with Mags Murphy winning the O35 category, Kevin Boag winning the O55 category and Mallow winning the team prize – well done to husband and wife Donal and Antoinette along with Aoife Carroll and David Sheehan.
